Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Talkova. By creating an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. What Talkova is

Talkova is a subscription web application for practicing English through conversations with AI tutors. The tutors — Maya, Leo, and Nova — are AI characters, not human teachers. Their voices are synthesized. Talkova is a practice tool, not accredited instruction, and it does not issue certificates or qualifications.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Talkova. You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian.

Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@talkova.app if you think someone else has access to it.

One account per person. Don't share your login with others.

3. Plans and billing

Talkova offers three plans:

Free — 5 conversations per day, text only.
Pro, $9.99 per month — unlimited conversations, voice practice, corrections, and progress tracking.
Premium, $19.99 per month — everything in Pro, plus night audio lessons and downloadable PDF lesson guides.

Paid plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. Your card is charged on the same day each month. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

We can change prices, but not without telling you at least 30 days ahead by email. If you don't want the new price, cancel before it takes effect.

4. Canceling

Cancel any time from your account, or email support@talkova.app. You keep access to your paid features until the end of the period you already paid for. After that, your account moves to the Free plan — it isn't deleted, and neither is your history.

5. What you can and can't do

Use Talkova to practice English. That's what it's for.

Don't use it to:

Break the law, or encourage anyone else to
Harass, threaten, or abuse anyone
Generate sexual content, hate speech, or content that harms minors
Resell access, or share your account with people who haven't paid
Scrape the service, run bots against it, or try to extract the underlying AI models
Interfere with the service or try to get around usage limits

We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules. When we can, we'll tell you why first.

6. Your content

What you write and say in your practice conversations belongs to you. You give us permission to process it so the service can work — generating replies, correcting your English, building your lessons, and tracking your progress.

We use conversation content to run and improve Talkova. We don't sell it. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

7. What we can't promise

AI tutors make mistakes. A correction may be wrong; an explanation may be off. Talkova is a practice partner, not an authority on English. Don't rely on it for anything where an error would matter — legal documents, medical information, immigration paperwork, or exams.

We aim to keep Talkova available around the clock, but we can't guarantee it. The service depends on third parties (Anthropic for the AI, ElevenLabs for voices, Supabase for data, Netlify for hosting), and an outage at any of them affects us.

The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind.

8. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, Talkova is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us during that period.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, in which case they don't apply to you.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Talkova after that means you accept the new terms.

10. Ending the agreement

You can close your account any time by emailing support@talkova.app. We can close accounts that violate these terms, or discontinue the service with 30 days' notice and a prorated refund of any unused paid time.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Virginia.
